No, being a BBVA customer is not required. You can choose to open a BBVA account or debit your payments from an existing account at another bank. If you use a BBVA account, you’ll receive a refund for one year of current account stamp duty.

Typical documentation may include: personal identification, proof of income (pay slips, tax returns), financial records (bank statements, property deeds), and property-related documents (floor plans, certificates of conformity). Yes, you can make partial or full early repayments with at least 30 days’ notice without penalties, fees, or extra charges. Paying off the mortgage in full ends the contractual relationship by settling the remaining principal before the mortgage term ends.

Mortgage loans are secured by a lien on the property and are always subject to the Bank’s approval.

Current Account Interest Offer
The current account interest promotion is valid for all new BBVA account holders who sign up by July 30, 2025, even if no BBVA Mortgage is taken out. The account offer itself is valid for sign-ups until September 30, 2025.

Interest is calculated annually on balances up to €1,000,000 with no minimum balance. It accrues daily on the account balance and is paid monthly, during the first business days of the following month, net of any applicable tax, via direct deposit.

For the first six months after account opening, the gross interest rate is 3%. After this period and until December 31, 2027 (subject to extension by the Bank), the gross interest rate will be equal, quarterly, to 25% of the ECB “Deposit Facility” rate, calculated on the day before the start of each quarter. The ECB deposit rate can be checked at www.ecb.europa.eu
. The Bank will notify customers of the applicable quarterly rate at the beginning of each quarter.
